Gospel of Luke AD. (Luke 14,1.7-14)
It happened that on the Sabbath day Jesus was eating at the home of one of the leaders of the Pharisees. And they watched. Jesus noticed how the guests chose the places. Then he told them a parable:

"When you you are invited to a wedding party, not ocupes the first place. You may have been invited someone more important than you, and the host, who invited them, will tell you: 'Give the place to him.' Then thou shalt be ashamed and you will occupy the last place.

But when you you are invited, go and sit in last place. So when you get who invited you, will tell you, 'Friend, come up higher.' And this will be an honor for you in front of all the guests. Because who rises will be humbled and whoever humbles himself will be exalted. "And also he told who had invited him, "When you give a lunch or a dinner, do not invite your friends or your brothers or your kinsmen, nor thy rich neighbors. Because they might also invite you and it already would be your reward.

On the contrary, when you give a feast, invite the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind. Then you will be happy! Because they can not repay you. You shall receive the reward in the resurrection of the righteous."

A. BIGCUORE´S REFLECTION: The global scenario today is not much different from the above text. Jesus is invited to eat in the house of a leading Pharisee. The Pharisees, say by the way, was a dominant political party in Israel in the time of Jesus. So the Master observes the behavior of people who were at that lunch. As a good teacher that is, Jesus tells a parable to them.

Master says that NEVER should sit in the first party places, as you may have asked much more important than you, and then will be required to give their place to others. This way, you will be embarrassed to have to give way to another. The power elites "loved" being cajoled by the people. They were conceited, proud and lived appearances.

Jesus gives them the tips of how to promote a feast. Should be called simple people, the maimed, the lame, because these people will NOT be able to repay them such a treat. The central idea that the Master wants to communicate is that his disciples should always be truly humble in all his deeds and actions.

They must put aside ARROGANCE, THE VANITY and BOSSINESS!

We, we participate more intimately in the Church behind the scenes, we know of useless conflicts and competitions that exist in Community Pastoral where particular pastoral care to compete with other ministries. Where many false leaders care more for display than effectively work for the Kingdom of God.

My brothers and sisters, be disciple of Jesus it is not easy. Implies RESIGN YOURSELF, take up his cross and follow him. This requires a lot of selflessness and courage!Let us learn from the Master who is meek and humble of heart!Who rises will be humbled and whoever humbles himself will be exalted!A happy and holy Sunday to all brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus! Grace and peace!
