Gospel of Sunday, according to John, 12, 20-33, March 18, 2018.

A. BIGCUORE´S REFLECTION. The text on the screen suggests that there were some Greeks who wanted to see Jesus. The disciples Philip and Andrew lead them to Him. And the Master shows them the way to follow Him.

"IF SOMEBODY WANTS TO SERVE ME, FOLLOW ME. AND WHERE I AM, THERE WILL BE MY SERVANT. IF SOME SERVE ME, THE FATHER WILL HONOR THEM "(Jn 12: 26) (2).

Being a disciple of Jesus implies giving up the transient values of this world. It means detaching and embracing the Cross of Jesus. To mean dying to germinate life; to radiate the Light of God throughout the world. The Christian was born to be the light of the world, just as the Master was.

The Master, as a great pedagogue who is, uses the image of the seed of wheat that must die to produce fruit. He, in this case, was referring to his passion and death that was about to happen.

There are millions of Christians all over the world, but disciples are few. And what's the difference? Christian in name is that person who goes to church once a week by mere social convention.
The Disciple is different. If necessary, he gives his life for the Project of God!

The cross for the Jews was humiliation! Only the worst criminals, murderers, died on the tree. It was the worst of all ways to be killed! But Jesus does not abandon his Father's plan. "Father, remove this cup from me," but do not do my will, but yours. "

But, still in the same chapter, He exhorts His disciples NOT TO FALL AWAY FROM THE LIGHT! "As long as you have the light, believe in the light, so that you become children of the light" (idem 36) (3)

He who walks in darkness does not know where he is going. You will surely be going into the abyss or something. Whoever truly follows Jesus, NEVER, will fall into the abyss. It is certain of the successful arrival of Eternity!
May we prepare well at this end of Lent, making a good confession of our sins, so that we may enter the Passover with a light and clean soul! Trust: GOD LOVES YOU!
