This Sunday near the Holy Catholic Church celebrates the feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, symbol of redemption and salvation for Christians.
"13.Ninguém ascended into heaven except he who descended from heaven, the Son of Man. 14.Assim as Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up. 15.Assim, whosoever believe in him, in him will have eternal life. "
"16.Pois God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have ETERNAL LIFE. 17.De fact, God sent his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him. "(1) (emphasis added).
A.BIGCUORE´S REFLECTION: wonderful text of the Gospel of John, where Jesus makes it clear in the dialogue with Nicodemus, the pathway of discipleship is the way of the Cross. There is no resurrection without the cross!
By accepting Jesus did not think that all your problems have been solved, as some pastors preach. Not just ADMIRE Jesus !. It is imperative to roll up their sleeves and engage in pastoral work and contribute thus to the improvement of the KINGDOM OF GOD. Having faith in Jesus, assume ATOS CONCRETE love of neighbor. As Paul says, "love is the bond of perfection." In one of his letters John says: "FAITH WITHOUT WORKS is DEAD" !.
The Cross symbolizes the ultimate revelation of God to men and also the symbol of salvation of Christians. To illustrate, let us reflect on the Book of Numbers, Chapter 21 In the desert the people murmured against Moses, saying: "5.Por that took us out of Egypt? Was to die in the wilderness? We have neither bread nor water, and we're sick of this bread of misery. "(Numbers 21: 5).
Moses sends poisonous to poke their bodies and many died snakes. As a result, the Jews cry out to Moses that the Lord God (Yahweh) to stop them sending poisonous snakes. So God tells Moses to make a bronze snake and put on a pole, so that everyone who is bitten and look at that rod will be healed. (idem, vs. 6-9).
The Evangelist John sees in this passage the person of Jesus crucified.
My brothers and sisters, follow the path of CROSS is difficult, but Jesus left us the MID; the REMEDY for Christians to have strength, health and courage to follow his footsteps. Let us above all the sacraments of Reconciliation (Confession) and Holy Eucharist. It is Jesus himself who gives FREE, every day, in celebration of the Mass. (distribution of eucharistic bread).
The greatest act of love: JESUS GIVE YOUR OWN LIFE, being slain an evil tree (for the Jews was the worst existing death, destined to thugs and criminals of the highest caliber) in favor of all mankind!
Heavenly Father God loved the world so that he sent his only begotten Son himself for the salvation of mankind. Want greater love than this? God's love is pure and true, what is better, completely free !!!. It does not require anything in return !. He gives us free will even to deny it to the world! Because it made us free !!!
Who is condemned or saved, does freely, ie, by conviction! God loves everyone without distinction. Only He respects our choice and every choice is worth remembering, has a consequence in the future according to the decision.
We choose the best and the best is the path indicated by the Master Jesus: "I AM THE WAY, THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE, NO ONE GOES TO THE FATHER, BUT BY ME." (Jn 14.6). Note that Jesus does not say I am a way, a truth a life, but rather the ONLY WAY, THE TRUTH AND ONLY ONE LIFE !!!
Let us make our choice by Jesus, for He alone can lead us to safe harbor !. Amen!
