On that day Jesus left the house and went to sit on the shores of the Sea of Galilee.
A great multitude gathered round him. So Jesus got into a boat and sat down while the crowd stood on the beach.

And he spake many things unto them in parables: "The sower went forth to sow. While sowing, some seeds fell by the wayside, and the birds came and ate them.

Other seeds fell on stony ground, where there was not much land. The seeds soon sprouted, because the earth was not deep. But when the sun appeared, the plants burned and dried up, because they had no root.
Other seeds fell among the thorns. The thorns grew and choked the plants.

Other seeds, however, fell on good soil, and produced on the basis of a hundred, sixty and thirty fruits per seed. He who has ears, let him hear! "
The disciples came and said to Jesus, "Why do you speak to the people in parables?"

Jesus answered, "For unto you was given knowledge of the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but unto them it is not given. For to the person who has will be given even more, and he will have in abundance; But to the person who does not have it will be taken away to what little he has.

This is why I tell them in parables: for by looking, they do not see, and by hearing, they do not hear or understand. Thus is fulfilled in them the prophecy of Isaiah: 'You shall hear, without understanding. You will have to look without seeing anything. For the heart of this people has become unfeeling.

They listened badly and closed their eyes, not to see with their eyes, nor to hear with their ears, nor to understand with their hearts, so that they may convert and I will heal them. '
Blessed are you, for your eyes see and your ears hear. Verily I say unto you, Many prophets and righteous men have desired to see what ye see, and have not seen, they have desired to hear what ye hear, and they have not heard.

Hear, therefore, the parable of the sower: Whosoever heareth the word of the kingdom, and receiveth it not, the evil one cometh, and taketh away that which was sown in his heart. This is he who was sown by the wayside.

The seed that fell on rocky ground is he who hears the word and soon receives it with joy; But it has no root in itself, it is for the moment; When suffering or persecution comes, because of the word, he gives up soon.

The seed that fell among the thorns is he who hears the word, but the worries of the world and the illusion of wealth choke the word, and it bears no fruit.
The seed that fell on good soil is he who hears the word and understands it. It bears fruit. One gives a hundred, another sixty and another thirty ". ( 1 )

A. BIGCUORE´S REFLECTION: The present parable is self explanatory. Jesus, the greatest educator in the world, shows us clearly how the Kingdom of God flourishes. I suppose agriculture was super primitive at the time. There were no studies to know the pH of the soil and which soil would be suitable for a particular seed. Everything was done empirically by farmers.
The Sower is God. The seed is his word and his teachings. The soil is the heart of people.

When the person has a heart that is receptive to divine teachings, the seed germinates into a sturdy plant and consequently will bear much fruit.
Nowadays, the human being is bombarded by the Maligne, and he gives most of his attention to the horizontal world (ie, the material world, only).

People are concerned only with survival and do not have time to listen (at least on Sundays) to the Word of God, and to put it into practice.
The work of evangelization is great. The Master says that the harvest is great, but there are still workers.

In fact, many Christians could devote part of their time to evangelizing. But they often prefer to deal with futilities that build nothing.
Whoever loses his life for the Kingdom of God will gain it. And whoever wants to gain his life will lose it, says Master Jesus.

Why not use, for example, technology (internet, smartphone, etc.) to evangelize? The Pope has said this several times, in the sense that Christians should use the internet (technology) to spread the Word of God and the teachings of Jesus.

My Brother and Sister, have you devoted some time to God? How do you manage your time? With futilities or with productive things?

Think about it! May the Beneficence of God, who is all-merciful, He who is Father +, Son + and Holy Spirit, come down upon You and all your family, Amen!
