First Sunday of Lent, the liturgy presents us for reflection, the Gospel of MARCOS, chapter, 1, verses 12 to 15.
"At that time the Spirit led Jesus into the wilderness. And he stayed in the wilderness for forty days and there he tried for satan. He lived among the wild beasts, and the angels served him.
After Joao Batista was arrested, Jesus went to Galilee, preaching the gospel of God and saying, "The time is already fulfilled and the kingdom of God is at hand. I BECAME YOU AND BELIEVE IN THE GOSPEL ". (cf. Paulus' Daily Liturgy, February / 18, pg. 67) (my emphasis).

A. BIGCUORE´S: After the death of John the Baptist, Jesus goes out to preach in the region of Galilee. The time has come. It's time to act. And that's what He does. Go forth to preach the Good News of the Kingdom of God.
Satan represents the mentality of the world and its values, which are in conflict with the Kingdom values that Jesus was disclosing.
I BECAME YOU AND BELIEVE IN THE GOSPEL. This is the sense of the time of Lent. We Christians, more than ever, in this time, we must turn to the Project of God. It is a time of almsgiving, penance, fasting, and charity.
And fasting is what the Prophet Isaiah tells us: caring for the poor and widows; free the people from the yoke of sin and the unjust structures that cause so much death. It goes far beyond daily fasts of renunciation of something we like very much, for example, a candy, a soda, a chocolate etc.
To convert is to change direction. It is to renounce the values of the world in exchange for the Project of Salvation, very well represented in the person of Master Jesus! We must live for the things above; live fully (if possible) the Word of God!
The Word of God is the revitalizing sap in our spiritual organism that leads us to the realization of good and truth.
To convert is to take the glasses of the world, to put in its place the "glasses of Jesus Christ"!
LET IT BE DRIVEN BY THE HOLY SPIRIT, this is the secret to being happy, even in this earthly life! The gifts of the Holy Spirit that we receive at Baptism should serve as spiritual food to lead us the boat of our salvation to the port of eternity.
Come down upon You and all your family, the BLESSING of the God, rich in Mercy; He who is Father + Son + and Holy Spirit, amen!
