Love Yours Enemies

                                    Second Gospel - Luke 6: 27-38

"At that time Jesus said to his disciples: 27" I say to you who listen to me, 'Love your enemies and do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you and pray for those who slander you. 29If anyone slaps you on one cheek, offer the other also. If any man take thee the robe, let him also take the tunic. 30 Give to anyone who asks you and, if anyone takes what is yours, do not ask him to give it back.

What you would have others do to you, do to them also. 32 If you love only those who love you, what reward will you have? Even sinners love those who love them. 33And if ye do good to them that do good unto you, what reward have ye? Even sinners do so. 34 And if you lend only to those of whom you hope to receive, what reward will you have?

 Even sinners lend to sinners, to receive back the same sum. 35On the contrary, love your enemies, do good and lend without expecting anything in return. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because God is kind to the unthankful and the wicked.
36 Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. 37 Do not judge and you will not be judged; do not condemn and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven. 38 Give and it shall be given you. A good measure, trampled, shaken, overflowing will be placed on your lap; because with the same measure with which you measure others, you also will be measured. "

A. BIGCUORE´S REFLECTION. The text on the screen, one of the most beautiful in the Bible, reminds us of the true love Jesus taught his disciples and also of us today.

If you love your friends, what merit is there in this? Inquire the Master. The pagans also do it.
The essence of God's Love is FREE! To love without nothing to demand in return. To love enemies and pray for them is the essence of today's evangelical message within the Catholic Christian liturgy.
"Be merciful, as your Father also is merciful. Do not judge and you will not be judged: do not condemn and you will not be condemned; FORGIVE, and you will be forgiven. "(Verses 36-37)

Every authentic Christian MUST love his enemies or adversaries. Must love any person, regardless of their color, race or religion. God's love is a compassionate, merciful love. And our attitude as a Christian should follow this exhortation of the Master Jesus.
