Gospel Of Sunday 2.016/04/10

Antoni BigCuore *

Date: 04/09/16, Saturday at 11.18 hoursGospel of John, 21, 1-19"At that time, Jesus appeared again to the disciples by the sea of Tiberias. The appearance was like this: Simon Peter, Thomas called Didymus, Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee and two other disciples of Jesus.

Simon Peter said to them, "I'm going fishing." They said, "We also go with thee."They went out and got into the boat but caught nothing that night. He had dawned, and Jesus was standing on the shore. But the disciples knew not that it was Jesus. Then Jesus said, "Young men, have you caught anything to eat?" They answered: "No".

Jesus said to them, "Cast the net on the right of the boat, and ye shall find." Launched because the network and could not pull it out, because of the amount of fish. Then the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, "It is the Lord!" When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, put on his clothes, for he was naked, and threw himself into the sea.

The other disciples came in the boat, dragging the net full of fish. In fact, they were not far from land, but only about a hundred meters. As soon as they stepped on land, they saw a charcoal fire with fish on it and bread. Jesus said to them, "Bring some of the fish you just caught."So Simon Peter went to the boat and dragged the net ashore. It was full one hundred and fifty and three large fish; and in spite of so many, the net was not torn.Jesus said to them: "Come eat." None of the disciples dared ask who he was, they knew it was the Lord. Jesus came, took the bread and distributed it for them. And they did the same thing with the fish.

This was the third time that Jesus, raised from the dead, appeared to his disciples. After eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?"Peter answered, "Yes, Lord, you know I love you." Jesus said, "Feed my lambs." And he said again to Peter, "Simon son of John, do you love me?" Peter said, "Yes, Lord, you know I love you." Jesus said, "Feed my sheep." For the third time, asked Peter, "Simon son of John, do you love me?"Peter was grieved because Jesus asked three times if he loved him. He said, "Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you. " Jesus said to him, "Feed my sheep.

Truly, I say to you when you were young, you girded and were going to where you wanted. When you are old you will stretch out your hands and another will gird you and carry you where you do not want to go. " Jesus said this, signifying by what death he would glorify God. He added, "Follow me." ( 1 )

A. BIGCUORE´S COMENTARY "Cast the nets right and you will find fish," said Jesus to Peter. God in his omniscience, omnipresence and omnipotence, know what is the best way forward by his disciples. Human logic is God and very different logic from ours.

We humans are always concerned with the goods of this world and Jesus offers us a more wonderful PROJECT: eternal life! Note that the Master always seeks ENCOUNTER with the disciples. Shows are always friendly and gracious.

In Luke 9, verses 23-24 we read, "If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it; but who sacrifice his life for My sake will save it. (2)

The Catholic tradition sees in this passage of John's Gospel, Jesus asks Peter three times, in allusion to his three denials before the rooster crowed. In Luke's Gospel, Jesus invites Peter to be a fisher of men. We see in this gospel, the need for the disciples "to fish" souls (in the river in the world) for the Project of God. The mission of the church is to evangelize, is shepherding the flock; above all it is for priests A GRAZING MISSION. The shepherd lays down his life for his sheep. Already the mercenaries work for money.

It is emphasized that the mission of us, today's laity is the same of the Disciples of Jesus, that is, to continue the mission of bringing the Good News to every creature !.

Another inference we can draw from the text, is the concern of Jesus always SHARING not only material bread, but especially the bread of the Spirit, or the Holy Eucharist! Jesus was extremely sociable. Always liked to be surrounded by disciples to teach them the salvific design of your Heavenly Father.

A holy and happy Sunday to all brothers and sisters in Christ! blessings of health, peace, prosperity, harmony and joy in their hearts !.
