GOSPEL - JOHN - 6: 1-15
A great prophet arose, arose and was shown among us; it is God that his people visit, his people, my God visited! (Lc 7.16)
Proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to John.
After that, Jesus crossed the lake of Galilee (which is that of Tiberias.)
And a great multitude followed him, because he saw the miracles which he did for the benefit of the sick.
Jesus went up to a mountain and sat there with his disciples.
The feast of the Jews was approaching Passover.
Jesus looked up at the great multitude that came to him, and said to Philip, Where shall we buy bread, that all these may have food?
He spoke like this to try it, for he knew what to do.
Philip answered him, "Two hundred denarii of bread are not sufficient for them, so that each one may receive a piece.
One of his disciples, named Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, said to him,
There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish ... but what is this for so many people?
Jesus said, "Make them sit down." Now there was much grass there. These men numbered about five thousand.
Jesus took the loaves and gave thanks. Then he distributed them to the people who were seated, and gave them as much as they wanted.
And when they were full, he said unto the disciples, Gather up the pieces that are left, that nothing be lost.
And they gathered them, and filled the baskets of the five barley loaves that were left over.
In the sight of this miracle of Jesus, these people said: This is truly the prophet that is to come into the world.
Jesus, perceiving that they wanted to take him and make him king, retired again to the mountain by himself.

A. BIGCUORE´S REFLECTION. What can we infer from the text on the screen?
First of all, it should be emphasized that the Master whenever he had to make a decision, went up some mountain to reflect. In this case, the Evangelist John tells us, which he takes with him from the apostles.
The Passover was approaching the Jews. There was a great multitude that accompanied Jesus wherever He went.
To test Philip, Jesus asks the question: where will we buy food for this crowd? Felipe replied that he had only 200 denarii.
The Master knew what to do, after all, He was the Son of God and had the power to perform miracles. And it does. There was a boy with 5 barley loaves and 2 fish. Jesus commands the multitude to settle and perform the miracle of multiplicity. Everyone ate, about 5,000 people, and there were still enough left over to fill twelve baskets!
The exegetes see in this passage, a PREFECTURE OF THE HOLY EUCHARIST. Gesture that Jesus performed at the last supper, in the upper room.
"Take and eat this is my body; drink and drink this is my blood. Do this in remembrance of me. "(Lk 22: 19-20)
Jesus, with this gesture, teaches the disciples the importance of SHARING the goods with the most fragile of society. It signals that true love, that true happiness, is in SHARING LIFE, with our fellow men!
In the case of our country Brazil, if politicians did not steal, there would be enough resources to make the so-called SOCIAL JUSTICE. The profile of income distribution could be improved.
QUESTIONS TO PONDER:
0.1. What does your community do to alleviate the sufferings of the poorest in the parish?
0.2. Is it in my personal life that I am thinking only of accumulating wealth and then selfishly enjoying it?
0.3. Do you collaborate with tithing in my parish?
A happy and holy Sunday to all! Come down upon you and all your family, the blessing of God, rich in mercy, He who is + Father, + Son and + Holy Spirit, amen!
