Gospel According to Luke - (21, 5 - 19)
"At that time, some people commented about the Temple which was adorned with beautiful stones and votive offerings.
Jesus said, “Do you admire these things? Days will come when there will be no stone unturned. Everything will be destroyed. ”
But they asked, “Master, when will this happen? And what will be the sign that these things are about to happen? ”
Jesus answered, “Be careful not to be deceived, for many will come in my name, saying, 'It's me!' And yet, 'Time is near.' Do not follow these people! When you hear about wars and revolutions, do not be terrified. These things must happen first, but it will not be the end soon. ”
And Jesus continued: “One people will rise against another people, one country will attack another country. There will be great earthquakes, famines, and plagues in many places; fearful things will happen and great signs will be seen in heaven.
But before these things happen, you will be arrested and persecuted; you will be delivered to the synagogues and put in prison; you will be brought before kings and governors because of my name. This will be the time when you will witness to your faith.
Make a firm purpose not to plan your own defense in advance; For I will give you words that are so right that none of your enemies will be able to resist or counter you. You will be delivered even by your own parents, siblings, relatives, and friends. And they will kill some of you.
Everyone will hate you because of my name. But you will not lose a hair on your head. It is by standing firm that you will make a living! ”(Text cf. portal -www.cancaonova.com.br)

A. BIGCUORE´S REFLECTION. "Luke describes the destruction of Jerusalem in the year 70 BC. This event marks the end of the history of the people of the Old Covenant. Henceforth there is no further separation between Jews and the pagans: God's people of the New Covenant will be built by people from all the peoples of the earth "(cf. Pauline Bible, pastoral edition, page 1.344, footnote).
It should be noted that the Old Covenant, made with Abraham, Moses, and the Old Testament Prophets, had the people of Israel as their chosen people. With the birth of Jesus also comes the NEW ETERNAL COVENANT made by Him and redeemed on the cross. And what does the New Covenant consist of?
Jesus PERFECTS the Old Covenant, only that He enlarges and is now born the People of God. Israel ceases to be the elected people. And THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS FOR ALL PEOPLE ON THE PLANET !!!
God came to the saints and sinners; for non-pagans and also for pagans. So much so that the Apostle Paul is nicknamed the Apostle of the Gentiles, since he basically preached to the Gentiles and their compatriots.
Luke's text is eschatological. But this destruction of Jerusalem already occurred in the year 70 AD, during the Roman Empire.
JESUS SAYS, "IT IS REMAINING FIRM THAT YOU WILL EARN LIFE."
Let us ask God for the gift of Faith and Perseverance, for we do not know, nor do the Angels, only the Father, know when the end of time will be. Always live in Hope and Hope! It is the Holy Eucharist that gives us physical and, above all, spiritual strength to face the enormous tribulations that we are already experiencing today.
WATCH AND PRAY NOT TO FALL IN TEMPTATION! Says the Master.
The Kingdom of Heaven is an evolving Kingdom. People die, others are born, and the kingdom is renewing throughout history. The important thing is that every Christian does his part while on a pilgrimage to this earth!
The challenges of the Christian are daily !. Let us ask God our Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus, to give us the gift of Faith and always give us the Eucharistic Bread to join forces for his Kingdom. Kingdom of Love, Peace and Joy!
