Gospel - John 6: 41-51
Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah.
I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will always live. I am the living bread, descended from heaven, amen, hallelujah, hallelujah! (Jn 6,51)
"Proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to John
At that time the Jews began to murmur about Jesus because he had said, "I am the bread that came down from heaven." They commented: "Is not this Jesus the son of Joseph? Do not we know your father and mother? How then can you say it came down from heaven? "
Jesus answered, "Do not murmur among yourselves. No one can come to me if the Father who sent me draws him not. And I will raise him up on the last day. It is written in the prophets, 'All shall be the disciples of God.' And every one that heareth the Father, and is instructed by him, cometh unto me. Not that anyone has ever seen the Father. Only the one who comes from God has seen the Father. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth hath everlasting life.
I am the bread of life. Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and yet they died. Behold the bread that cometh down from heaven: he that eateth of it shall never die. I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live forever. And the bread that I will give is my flesh given to the life of the world. " - Word of salvation. "(1)

A. BIGCUORE´S REFLECTION.The present gospel is a continuation of the Eucharistic catechesis of John the Evangelist.
The Jews did not accept the novelty introduced by Jesus. They ate the manna in the desert and died. To the Jews this statement was shocking to the religion of Moses.
The new one is always "menacing" because it took them out of the comfort zone. Jesus, the new wine, as he himself says, He came to perfect the Old Law of the Jews and not revoke it !.
But they felt threatened. And when the Master says that he is the "BREAD LIVING UNCUT OF THE CEU": whoever eats this bread will live forever. And the bread which is my flesh given to the life of the world "(v. 51), the Pharisees were furious. But is not he the carpenter's son? Son of Joseph? And how could it have come down from heaven? (note the prejudice of the Jews).
They clung to a religion purely RITUALIST and forgot the essential that is Love, compassion, mercy. Says the prophet, Hosea, "I want mercy and not sacrifice."
That is why it is essential for every Christian to participate weekly in the Holy Eucharistic Celebration, which is an update of the Last Supper. Sacrifice and Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
"Take and eat this is my body. Drink and drink this is my blood (Luke 22).
For every Christian, the Holy Sacrament of the Eucharist is the bread of the angels, the eucharistic bread that gives us strength, increases our faith, to continue our journey towards our Heavenly Father.
But, most importantly, it is NOT to selfishly hold this bread in our hearts, but to distribute it to our fellow men. Receive it for free, give it for free. The Eucharistic bread is for everyone! We should always share it with our brothers and sisters.
Let it come down upon you and your family, the blessing of God, rich in mercy, He who + Father, Son + and Holy Spirit +, amen!
