Today's Gospel, according to Catholic Christian liturgy, is expected in the Gospel of Matthew, chapter 16, verses 13 to 20 The first reading from Isaiah, 22, 19-23, responsorial psalm 138/137, 2nd reading Romans 11 33-36.
At Caesarea Philippi, the Master Jesus asks his disciples: "Who do men say that the Son of Man?". Said, "Some say John the Baptist, others Elijah, still others Jeremiah or one of the prophets."
He asked them, "But whom say ye that I am?". Simon Peter answered and said: "THOU ART THE CHRIST, THE SON OF THE LIVING GOD" (emphasis mine). Jesus answered him, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you that, but my Father who is in heaven. And I tell you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build MY CHURCH, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. "(1)

A.BigCuore´s Reflection: the text of the evangelist, is clear which is the church of Christ: one whose head began with Peter !!!
Upon this rock I will build MY CHURCH, says the Master Jesus.
We are not here interested in creating controversy and even discuss religion, just to clarify that the ONLY church (biblically) continuer of the Apostles is the Catholic Christian. This, however, does not invalidate the other Christian denominations. The most important of all, is being DISCIPLES OF JESUS!
Namely, PRACTICE everything He taught through his words have been entered in the holy Gospels.
Our ability to love is what will save us! Which is nothing more than being baptized and have faith in Jesus, and of course the day to day, have attitudes, concrete acts of love of neighbor. (. former a kind word spoken at the right time, a hug, a kiss, a show of solidarity, especially in times of suffering, charity etc. etc.).
For the text, it is clear that as Jesus was passing an attorney Peter to take care of his flock, when He ascended to heaven, with the latter coming of the Holy Spirit, who guides the church today.
The Catholic Church as the mystical body of Christ is perfect, holy and immaculate !. Already a hierarchical church consists of men; and men are flawed. Look at the present time, what is happening. Pope Benedict XVI, resigned because he felt that some groups of cardinals were creating large "resistance" to his pastoral administration and also temporal. And, in view of his advanced age, he opted for the brave and humble resignation, as provided in Article 332, paragraph 2, of the Code of Canon Law, drafted by himself then Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, the time of Pope John Paul II.
Everything passes, only God remains! The Catholic church throughout history has gone through several crises and never was and never will be destroyed because it was endorsed by Jesus himself, when, in the text above says "... the gates of hell will never prevail against it."
We can only PRAY that delicate moment for the Holy Spirit enlighten the minds of Srs.Cardeais to choose one that is the best at the time to direct our church.
GOD bless us all Christians and non-Christians for the best to happen in this world so full of violence and troubled !. Peace begins in the human heart, let us not forget that !.
GOD IS FOREVER praised and glorified, ON BEHALF OF HIS SON JESUS CHRIST! Amen!
PSALM OF THE DAY: 138/137: Synopsis: "I thank you, Lord, with all my heart. In the presence of the Angels I sing to Thee. 2.Eu prostrate myself toward thy sanctuary, and thank thy name for thy steadfast love and faithfulness, for your promise surpasses your fame. 3.When I cried thou answered me, and not increased the strength in my soul. "6.The Lord is sublime, but look at the lowly and knows the proud from afar. 7.When I walk by dangers, thou preserves my life. 8 The Lord will do everything for me. LORD, YOUR LOVE IS FOREVER !. Do not forsake the work of thy hand "(2).
Reflection: the Psalmist refers to God our Heavenly Father and implores him that He meets their expectations. He has full confidence in God that frees you from all the dangers and difficulties. Recognizes that God is a God of the humble and merciful hearts of pure driving them his prayers. God is a God of love and infinite mercy. Caters to all, without distinction, since your heart is humble and is always available to his precepts.
