                                 GOSPEL SECOND LUCAS, 21,25-28,34-36

The Catholic Church, on Sunday, celebrates the beginning of the Advent Season, the new Liturgical Year governed by the Year C. therefore, the readings are changed.
The central idea of ​​the text refers us to the words, Surveillance and Prayer. Thus says the text of the evangelist Luke. "At that time Jesus said to his disciples. There will be signs in the sun, the moon and the stars. In the earth the nations will be distressed, with awe of the noise of the sea and the waves. Men will faint with fear, just thinking about what is going to happen in the world, because the forces of the sky will be shaken.

"Take care that your hearts are not insensible because of gluttony, drunkenness and worries of life, and that day does not suddenly fall on you: for this day will fall like a trap over all the inhabitants of the whole earth. 36Therefore, be attentive and pray at every moment, that you may have strength to escape all that is to come, and to stand before the Son of Man. " ( 1 )

REFLECTION A. BIGCUORE. Vigilance and prayer, two words that the Christian should always bring clear and fresh in his heart. (every moment).

Watch and pray, for you know neither the day nor the hour. Noise from the sea and waves. Question that imposes itself: noise of the sea and the waves, would no longer be happening. Jesus tells us in another gospel, that the disciples MUST be attentive to the signs of the times.
How many wars are there in the world? Terrorism, especially in the Middle East and Africa?
"27. They will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with great POWER and GLORY. (my emphasis).

Jesus' disciples should fear nothing, because they know that God will never let them perish, without the proper sacraments, especially the Eucharist.

God provides the "armor" (by the power of prayer) to stand before the Son of Man, who will come in his glory. When? No one knows, only the Father, says Jesus in another passage of the gospel.
