Then the wolf attacks and scatters the sheep. 13.The mercenary flees because it works only for money and not for the sheep.

"14.I AM THE GOOD SHEPHERD; know my sheep, and they know me, just as the Father knows me and I know the Father. I lay down my life for the sheep. 16.I have also other sheep that are not of this fold. To them also I must lead; they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one flock and one Shepherd. 17.The Father loves me, because I lay down my life to take it again. 18.Nobody takes away my life; I give freely. I have power to give life and have the power to take it up again. This is the command I received from my Father. "
A. BIGCUORE´S REFLECTION: beautiful Gospel this Sunday April 26th. He refers us to reflect and question: do we Christians are being Shepherd, wolf or mercenary?Within our own Catholic Christian church makes us reflect the role it plays our priests. Are they being truly pastors or simply "religious officials"?
Jesus tells us that the shepherd lays down his life for his sheep !. Do we Christians are truly exercising our role as disciples of the Master Jesus? Or are we playing the role of hungry wolves?By way of illustration, bringing the text to the political and social reality of today's Brazil we notice the selfish attitudes, personalist and misappropriation of public money, when the "noble" Congress to approve the budget of the Union simply tripled values evil doomed Fund Supporter, rather than URGENT sectors such as health (which is in chaos in Brazil), education, public safety, etc. (not forgetting the retired who earn above the minimum, they are getting ALMS federal !!! ).
Another phrase that gets our attention, in verse 18, "I have the power to give life and take it up again." Here comes to mind the idea that we are actually passing through this land. It is God who allowed us to be born of a mother and we are aware that one day, all of us, believers or not; poor or rich, we must RETURN LIFE TO GOD! This so called death.
And finally the dream of every conscientious Christian, that one day there is only one religion, the religion of TRUE LOVE, which is the religion established by Jesus Christ. "There will be one flock and one shepherd." Amen !? (See the Gospel of Matthew, chapter 16, verse 18: "And I tell you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it" (my emphasis)..
That descend upon you and their families, about their work and studies, BLESSINGS the Merciful God; He who is Father, Son and Holy Spirit, Amen !.
