TODAY'S GOSPEL (Luke, 18, 9-14)
Antoni BigCuore
*
At
that time, 9Jesus told this parable to some who trusted in their own
righteousness and despised others: 10 "Two men went to the temple to pray, one a
Pharisee, the other a tax collector.
11The
Pharisee stood and prayed thus within himself: 'Oh God, I thank you because I am
not like other men, thieves, crooks, adulterers, or even like this tax
collector. 12Eu
fast twice a week, I give tithes of all my income. "13
tax collector, however, stood at a distance and dared not raise his eyes to
heaven, but beat his breast, saying:'My
God, have mercy on me a sinner!' 14Eu tell you the latter went home justified,
not the other. For
who goes up will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.

Glory to you, Lord.
A.BigCuore´s Reflexion: We note the text above, two very different situations. The
first reaction of the Pharisee hypocrite who thinks he saved, showing great
pride thinking that thus enter the kingdom of God.Attitude
merely formal, because your heart is, in fact, far from God. Your attitude is totally
false! The second yes, it is pleasing to
God. The
tax, which at the time was seen as corrupt, demonstrates a positive attitude,
humble, and it is recognized sinner before God. Humble
yourself before Him becomes, makes a sacrifice of confession to God and,
therefore, pleases him greatly.Nowadays, how
many of us do not have a pharisaical attitude? Who is without sin cast
the first stone! We are all sinners, to
a greater or lesser degree. This
Lent, it is very important to FASTING, PRAYER and CHARITY!This greatly
pleases the heart of our good God!Consider, then,
this!Holy weekend
to all brothers and sisters in Christ! What
about you get off your family, your work and your friends and relatives, the
blessing of God who is Father, Son and Holy Spirit, Amen!Other
readings of the day: Prophet Hosea, 6 1-6 and Psalm 51 (50).
